Biblical Priorities (R&W 7)

Roots and Wings - Bibilcal Priorities

Our Human Weakness is our chronic busyness.
Luke 10:41 But the Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are anxious and troubled about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary. [1] Mary has chosen the good portion, which will not be taken away from her.”

We are always driven by activities and as a result majoring the minor - the resulting problem.
2 Tim 3:1 But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. 6 For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, 7 always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth.

We have a form of godliness, but denying its power.
We need a radical re-orientation, which is putting first thing first.
Mat 6:33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

What is this kingdom - it is about Jesus (the king). His reign, rule, relationship and righteousness. Relationship is about us and Jesus.

Righteousness is about options:
Choosing between Good and Evil
Choosing between Good and Best
Chossing between Good and God

When we choose to seek His kingdom and his righteousness FIRST - it is the critical need we are reuired.

The critical need is Majoring the major
1 Cor 15:58 Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.

SIA - steadfast; immovable; abounding

Finally, the empowered life of roots and wings is about sharpening our axe and our saw!
Ecc 10:10 If the iron is blunt, and one does not sharpen the edge,he must use more strength, but wisdom helps one to succeed.
